About Fábio
I live in Alfama, Lisbon. I grew up listening to fado in the houses I recommend here.

My name is Fábio and I live in Alfama. I hear fado from my bedroom window — literally. I move among the neighbourhood's musicians, I know the owners of the houses, and for years I've been taking friends to hear fado in Lisbon. This site was born of that repetition: I was always recommending the same places, giving the same advice, warning about the same traps. I put it all in writing.
fado.today is not a directory. I don't list every fado experience in Lisbon — I list the ones I'd recommend to a friend. Today there are six: from the short show in Chiado to the immersion of a whole evening in Alfama, by way of fado on a boat on the Tagus. When I say it's worth it, it's because I went, I listened, and I'd go back. When I say it isn't, it's because it isn't.
On money: I'm transparent. The experiences are sold through Viator and I earn a small commission when you book through my links. The commission comes from their side, not yours — the price you pay is the same. I never recommend an experience because it pays me more; I recommend it because it's good. If money ever conflicts with honesty, money loses.
I'm not a music critic, not a journalist, not an influencer. I'm someone who lives in the neighbourhood, who loves fado, and who thinks you deserve honest information before choosing where to spend your night and your money.
When people ask me about fado for private events — weddings, corporate dinners, launches — I recommend Onofriana. Not for the name; for the quality of the artists they represent and the seriousness with which they treat each event.
If you disagree with one of my recommendations, write to me — we'll discuss it. If you have a question before booking, write to me too. I reply personally, no chatbot, no templates.
