How much fado costs in Lisbon in 2026 — 32 places compared

"How much does it cost?" is the question I'm asked most, and the answers you find online are almost always out of date: 2026 guides still give prices from three or four years ago. So I went to the houses' own websites, one by one, in October 2026, and put it all in one table.

The numbers

• 32 places: 17 with dinner, 8 with fado vadio or free entry, 6 short concerts and the Museu do Fado.
• Dinner with fado: 14 places have a set menu, between €60 and €85 per person. The median is €68.
• Drinks: only 2 of those 14 menus include drinks — Maria da Mouraria (€70) and Tasca da Bela (€60). Ten say clearly that they don't, and two don't say. With wine, budget another €10 to €20 per person.
• Short concerts: six, between €19 and €23, almost always with a drink included.
• Fado vadio: three places with fado and no entry fee (Povo, Tasca do Jaime, Clube Lisboa Amigos do Fado) and others where you pay around €10 to €30 in petiscos or for a simple menu.

What makes the price vary

Dinner. It's almost the whole price. The classic houses sell a set menu — starter, main, dessert — with the fado included; there's no ticket for the fado alone. Some open their doors later to people who only want a drink: Adega Machado after 22:30, Fado ao Carmo in Chiado with a €15 minimum from 22:30, and O Faia with a session at 23:30.

Drinks. Only two of the fourteen menus include them. A glass of wine costs €8 to €9 at the houses that publish their wine list, so two people with a bottle easily add €30.

The format. An hour-long concert costs a third of a dinner. It's the best choice for those short on time — and it isn't second-rate fado: these are professional fadistas, in a small room.

Where you buy. The Museu do Fado costs €5 at the door and shows up at more than three times that on online resellers. The other way round, some short concerts are cheaper on the platforms than on the house's own website. Compare first.

How to spend well

What each format includes, and why it costs what it does, I explain in the price guide by format.

• First time, small budget: an hour-long concert, like Fado in Alfama (from €19) or Fado no Chiado (€23), and dinner wherever you like.
• You want the whole night: a classic house midweek. Budget €80 to €100 per person with wine.
• You want everything included: Tasca da Bela, €60 with drinks — and I make the booking.
• You want neighbourhood fado: a fado vadio tavern, early, with cash in your pocket.

How I gathered the prices

Prices are per person, in euros, as the houses published them on their websites in October 2026. Where a house doesn't publish prices, I used 2025–2026 guides and resellers and marked the confidence as medium or low. "From" is the cheapest way to hear fado there — a menu, a ticket, a minimum spend, or zero when there's no entry fee. Four places publish no price at all and appear with a dash. Do fado house prices include drinks?

Almost never. Of the 14 set menus I compared, only two include drinks: Maria da Mouraria and Tasca da Bela.
